2017 Kelowna Jr. Rockets — 2027 Spring Hockey Season FAQ
Who is on the coaching and management staff?
Our team is led by an experienced group of coaches and staff dedicated to creating a fun environment and facilitating player development:
Head Coach: Chris Ray
Assistant Coach: Walker Wintoneak
Assistant Coach: Jeff Obrand
Assistant Coach: Cody Collins
Skills Coach: Cody Franson
Team Manager: Philippa Wintoneak
When does the season run?
The spring season begins in late March or early April and concludes after the May long weekend.
What is the practice schedule?
Players can expect about one weekly practice. We may schedule a second practice during weeks leading up to a tournament weekend to ensure the team is prepared. We may also schedule periodic dryland training. We will aim for practices at arenas in Kelowna (e.g., MNP Place, Rutland Arena), some practices may be in West Kelowna or Lake Country depending on ice availability.
How many tournaments will the team play?
The team will participate in two to three tournaments over the course of the spring season. This includes wrapping up the season as the host team for the Twigs and Twine tournament in Kelowna over the May long weekend.
What are the travel expectations?
Travel will be kept mostly local in the BC Interior. There is a possibility of attending one tournament located in the Vancouver area or Alberta. Exhibition games will likely be in the Okanagan.
What Tier/Division is the 2017 team considered?
Based on the previous spring season and the expected makeup of the roster (i.e., a mix of A/Tier 1, B/Tier 2, and C/Tier 3 U11 players), the team will likely be considered a higher caliber AA team.
